Russia bans imports of plant products from Moldova from Aug 15

MOSCOW, Aug 9 (PRIME) -- The Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Oversight has banned imports of plant products from some Moldovan regions starting from August 15 due to repeated violations of quarantine demands, Yuliya Melano, advisor to the service’s head, told reporters on Tuesday.

“The service is forced to impose temporary restrictions on imports of quarantined products to the territory of the Russian Federation starting from August 15, 2022 … The reason of the ban is repeated discoveries of dangerous quarantined objects in the Moldovan products that enter the territory of Russia, of which the Moldovan side had been repeatedly notified by the service,” she said.

The ban covers imports from 33 districts of Moldova.

On March 5, the Russian service abolished all restrictions on imports of quarantined plant products from Moldova. “Before that, the mechanism of supplies was creating regionalization of the territory of Moldova, and it supposed supplies only from the clean zones and from approved companies. Starting from August 15, the service will have to restart working in the format,” she said.
